The Week in Chess

For news on what's happening in the chess world, visit Mark Crowther's great online chess newsletter. Games, crosstables, and news stories on the most important events in the tournament chess world.

If you're just looking for a calendar of major international events, look into Chessville's annual events calendar. However, if you want information on local tournaments, check with your local FIDE affiliate (such as the USCF in the United States).

And if you're interested in feature stories with lots of pictures, see the Chessbase news column.

Stephen Pribut's excellent FAQ for the rec.games.chess.misc. newsgroup also has many suggestions on teaching and learning chess. When you get to Dr. Pribut's page, look for the links to the FAQ parts 1-4 if you need plain text to print out, or the "WWW version" if you want to view it online.
